Owaisi says “development limited to Kolkata,” to hold 'chakka jam' in Kolkata for Murshidabad’s justice

AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi on Monday launched a sharp political attack on both the Bharatiya Janata Party and Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee while addressing a public meeting in the Raghunathganj Assembly constituency of Murshidabad. He accused the BJP of pursuing a “fascist agenda” and alleged that the ruling party in the state was only interested in securing votes without addressing the concerns of the Muslim community.

Highlighting local and state-level issues, Owaisi raised concerns over employment and welfare, promising that a minimum wage policy would be implemented for women engaged in bidi rolling. He also referred to the cancellation of OBC certificates by the Calcutta High Court, claiming that a large number of those affected belonged to the Muslim community. Alleging uneven development, he said progress in West Bengal was concentrated around Kolkata, neglecting districts like Murshidabad, and announced plans to organise a “chakka jam” in Kolkata to demand justice. He further criticised Mamata Banerjee’s past political associations and questioned her stance during key events, while reiterating his call to stop the BJP.
